Andrew Rael, born in Misawa, Japan, used music as a refuge during his parents' decade long, soap opera themed divorce, (which still wake him up from deep sleep, in a panic induced sweat.)

Starting piano at age three, music became a constant in his life, leading to a successful career as a jazz pianist and studio musician. Out of his personal struggles and college degree, he developed a unique improvisation system outlining how music actually works, and incorporating wellness techniques like CBT and DBT.

Andy did not travel the now common road of music school, but pursued and sought out mentors the “old school way” (that may or may not have included stalking, and just downright sheepishly asking to “Hang out”) This include artists who were directly instructed by jazz legends such as John Coltrane, Pharaoh Sanders, Barry Harris and Lenny Tristano. Include to that list, personal instruction from piano greats coming from Manhattan School of Music, Juilliard School of Music, The New School for Jazz and Mason Gross School of Performing arts. Andrew education lineage is pure and not available anywhere else. His teaching passion began at fourteen, driven by a desire to help others navigate personal struggles.

Meeting his wife shifted his views on family, and as a father of two teenagers, he finds purpose in nurturing others.

Besides music, Andrew is involved in the maker movement. He is skilled woodworker and antique restoration professional, gleaned from the familys’ furniture business. Andy also learned jewelry making, scrollwork, metal engraving, construction, mixed media, repair/ modification and audio-visual technology.

Committed to sharing music's therapeutic power, he inspires others to find peace and wellness through piano.
